Facebook is developing a neural wristband for AR glasses with tactile gloves in the works.Facebook's first smart glasses are coming this year. But for the next couple on the road, they may be connected through your wrist.A new post by Facebook Reality Labs discusses the next frontier of neural input technology. The company imagines that AR glasses will work with a soft wristband that measures hand and finger gestures with haptic feedback.Facebook appears to be separating the advances in neural input into two waves:
One, "near-term" สล็อตgp development uses "wrist-based input with AI that works but has limited context." Next week with more details on that research. There are also some interesting details about "Researching soft robots, all-day wearable devices" and work with touch gloves at the end of the year.
Neural input technology measures the electrical impulses in the body. Facebook acquired CTRL-Labs, a neurological input company, in 2019, but the technology is not yet appearing in any Facebook product. It's a way for the company to explore what could be a wristband-type device first,
and then put on touch gloves or expandable wearables later. Perhaps this wrist-worn neural input device will eventually be compatible, with Facebook's plans for a smartwatch reportedly.Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's head of AR / VR products, told CNET earlier this year that the advent of the neural input technology was. It's "faster than many people think," but it's still years away from appearing in consumer products. A recent interview with Mark Zuckerberg published by The Information also addresses the promise of neural input technology as a future smart glasses solution |
